Terms of Use
The short version
Sub Crawl is a free hobby app made by one person to help adults plan a pub crawl around the Glasgow Subway. By using it you agree to these terms. They’re written to be read, not skimmed, and they boil down to: be 18+, look after yourself and your mates, don’t take the scores seriously, and be decent to other players.
1. 18 and over only
Sub Crawl is about pubs and drinks. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. If you are under 18, please don’t use the app.
2. Drink responsibly
Sub Crawl is a planning tool. It helps you pick stations and pubs and keep track of a route. It doesn’t encourage anyone to drink, and nothing in it requires anyone to drink alcohol at all:
- Choosing a Soft or Zero drink counts as a full stop, exactly like any other.
- Any rule, challenge or scoring element in the app can be skipped by anyone at any time. Nobody is ever “out” for not drinking.
- Please pace yourself, eat, drink water, and stop when you’ve had enough. Look out for your group.
Never drink and drive, and respect the rules of the venues and the Subway.
3. Your safety is yours
You are responsible for your own safety, travel arrangements and behaviour, and for those of your group. Plan how you’ll get home before you set off, know the last train times, and stay with people you trust. The app can’t see where you are and can’t help you if something goes wrong.
4. Pub information may be wrong
Pub names, locations, opening hours and other details in the app are gathered from public sources and edited by hand. Pubs close, change hands, change their hours and get things wrong on their own websites. Always check before you go: a place may be shut, full, ticketed, or not what it once was. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we’ll fix it.
5. No affiliation
Sub Crawl is an independent fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), the Glasgow Subway, or any pub, bar or venue mentioned in the app. Station and venue names are used only to describe where things are.
6. Accounts and display names
You can use most of Sub Crawl without an account. To host or join a live crawl you’ll pick a display name and either sign in (email code or Google) or join as a guest.
- Pick a display name that won’t upset the table. No offensive, abusive or discriminatory names, and don’t impersonate other people, venues or organisations.
- Keep your sign-in code to yourself and don’t use someone else’s account.
- Hosts can remove any player from their live crawl at any time, for any reason.
- We can change a display name, suspend or delete an account, or end a live session if we think these terms are being broken or the service is being abused. We’ll be reasonable about it.

7. Live crawls and join codes
A live crawl is shared with everyone who has the 5-character join code. Anyone with the code can join (until the host locks or ends the session), see the plan and the player list, and see everyone’s scores and display names. So:
- Share the code with your group only. Don’t post it publicly or on open social media.
- Hosts can lock a session to stop new joiners, and remove anyone who shouldn’t be there.
- Sessions stop accepting scores 36 hours after they’re created and are deleted after 30 days.
8. Scores are for fun
The golf-style “sips” scores, pars, birdies and bogeys are a bit of fun between friends. Players type in their own numbers; nothing is checked or measured. Scores are not a record of what anyone actually drank, and we don’t hold them out as one. Don’t use them to pressure anyone into drinking more.
9. Tips
If you enjoy Sub Crawl you can leave a tip. Tips are entirely voluntary, are not payment for any service, and are non-refundable. They are processed off-site by Buy Me a Coffee and their payment provider (Stripe) under those companies’ own terms; we never see your card details. 10. Free, as-is, no warranty
Sub Crawl is free and provided “as is” and “as available”. It’s a hobby project maintained in spare time, so we can’t promise it will always work, be accurate, be available underground, or be free of bugs. To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties, and we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app, including anything that happens on a crawl. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer.
11. Changes to the service and these terms
We may change, pause or shut down Sub Crawl, or any part of it (including live mode), at any time without notice. We may also update these terms; when we do we’ll change the “last updated” date at the top. If you keep using the app after a change, that’s you accepting the new terms.
12. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the UK you keep any consumer rights that apply where you live.
